We begin our process by defining the problem holistically.
We create a map of patient-reported symptoms by observing the patient's journey. We then verify insights with expert healthcare providers and, finally, we scan the literature for signs, symptoms, side effects, and observations of subtle change.
We then map each symptom on various digital “senses.” By senses, we mean all personal and environmental metrics that can be perceived by a multitude of connected devices (for example, how often one participates in social activities, or how regular one’s food intake is, or what’s their 10-minute average HRV right after waking up).
Based on the importance of each symptom and the mapped senses, we identify available devices that can capture such senses.
If no available device exist, we sometimes make it!
